Y'all, February 2024 has been one for the books! So many changes have taken place in my household, that I find myself spinning much of the time. Through it all, I have seen the goodness of the Lord and love how He knows so much more than I ever could! On February 5th, I received a call from Agape Harbor about this sweet little girl. While it started as a 2-week respite stay, this past Monday, February 19th, I officially said yes to full placement. Meet Miss J (aka, JoJo, Jujubes, Chickaboom, Little Chickpea... she already has so many nicknames!). She has completely won my heart and the hearts of everyone she meets. She is full of adventure, loves people, and smiles so big I sometimes wonder how her little skin can stretch that far. Her name in Hebrew means, 'God will bring the increase' and 'something well established'. I believe that her mama has already spoken something very prophetic over her life in giving her her name. Please be praying for her and everyone involved in helping this precious baby. Since I had originally planned on first receiving elementary-aged kiddos, I am still trying to get a few baby items for my house. If you would like to help, I've added a few items to my original Amazon registry. The road to being licensed as a foster parent and receiving placement has not been without its moments. Receiving the news that I was licensed was so exciting. It was shortly followed by the news that the agency I had been licensed with, Agape Harbor, was closing its doors at the end of this month. While I completely understand and even support their decision to close, it was (and is) still hard to deal with the ramifications of what this closure has meant, especially so soon after getting licensed and receiving a placement. Shortly after I got the news, I was able to meet with a couple of other agencies in Corpus and chose A World for Children. Their heart for children is evident in all that they do and has a similar 'vibe' to Agape Harbor. But, it has meant basically resubmitting AALLLL of my paperwork, additional training, a new home study, and new compliance requirements for my household. Both agencies have been great helping with the transition, but it's still been a lot to deal with all while learning how to be a mom to a 4-month-old. The goal is to have everything transferred over this coming week. Prayers are appreciated in this transition! I have loved my apartment for the last 2 years, but I am discovering how much it doesn't work with a baby. Being on the 2nd floor with no washer or dryer and a very heavy car seat has made for some... interesting moments. My lease is up in a couple of months and I am looking to move into something more suited for my needs. My ultimate prayer is to get a single-family house with a backyard and washer/dryer hookups. Please be praying I can find one within my price range and in a good neighborhood!
